Shannon Garcia

Shannon completed her undergraduate degree at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA and received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science in 2013. During this time, she worked as a physical therapy aide for two years at an outpatient aquatic physical therapy clinic in San Diego before attending physical therapy school. Shannon graduated from the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA with highest graduate level honors and her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2017.

During her graduate program Shannon volunteered at events supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Association. She worked previously in various outpatient orthopedic settings in San Diego for six years before joining the Therapy Works Team and moving to Bend. Shannon is interested in continuation of her professional education with emphasis on treatment of vestibular disorders.

When she is not in the clinic Shannon enjoys time with her family, husband, and friends and enjoys horseback riding, hiking, camping, and traveling. Shannon hopes to incorporate hippotherapy into her clinical practice by combining her professional knowledge and her passion for horseback riding and using this as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor, and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes for her patients in the future.
